Cuneo Compound

The Cuneo Compound was a building located in Hell's Kitchen, in the northernmost section of the neighborhood. The compound was built by Carmine Cuneo as a home for the Cuneo family, but in 1955, it was bombed and taken over by the Trapani crime family.

History[]

The Cuneo Compound was built in 1929 in Hell's Kitchen by Carmine Cuneo, who lived in the building with his family. It started out small, but in 1945, an addition was being constructed in the front of the house. The compound was located next to a railroad site that led to Kansas City, where the Cuneos laundered their money, and it was near to Midtown, another district in New York City. The compound was guarded by several enforcers and soldati.

In 1955, the compound was bombed by Aldo Trapani, who planted time-bombs in both of the compound's armories after gunning down all of the Cuneo guards defending the area. It exploded, and was rebuilt later in the year as a safehouse for Trapani and his men.
