Dominick "Big Trin" Trinchera was a Capo in the Bonanno crime family who was known both for his heavy weight of 350 pounds and his death in 1981 in the Three Capos Murder.
Biography[]
Trinchera was the son of a Roman and an American woman whose parents were from Naples. In 1979, following Don Carmine Galante's death, he became a Bonanno Capo and never fully learned to speak English, only speaking in broken English and Italian. He owned a trucking firm that he sold a few weeks before his death in 1981, working a legitimate life as well as a criminal one. He was never fond of Joseph Massino or Philip Raselli and worked with Philip Giaccone and Al Indelicato against him, planning to kill him.
Death[]
At a peace meeting at the 20/20 Night Club, the Three Capos were killed. Trinchera and the others were invited to a peace meeting by Gerlando Sciascia and the Rastelli Faction, and after Sciasca brushed his hair, the arranged signal, Vito Rizzuto and some other gangsters rushed up and declared a stickup. Sciasca punched Trinchera in the face, and when he charged at the gunmen, they fired at him. Reportedly, 50 pounds of his stomach went flying in the shotgun explosion that killed Trinchera.
When soldato John "Booby" Cersani had to pick him up, he also needed to pick up the pieces. His body was cut up and buried in Lindenwood, found in 2004 by playing children.
