The Familia Mexicana is a Mexican-American organized crime syndicate that was founded in 1975 in southern California, as well as Arizona and New Mexico. The gang was created by Esteban Luis Ortiz, and currently has 30,000 members in the US Southwest. They have been known for dealing drugs and guns, and are also involved in prostitution, auto theft, gang warfare, murder, robbery, armed assault, burglaries, bank heists, pornography, diamond smuggling, illegal firearms trafficking, flying over martial airspaces, and fencing. They have made allies with other Mexican gangs such as the Mexican Mafia, Juarez Cartel, Los Zetas, Sinaloa Cartel, Guzman Cartel, and Mara Bunta Grande, but are enemies of certain sets of the Vagos, Ballas, Grove Street Families, Varrios Los Aztecas, and Tijuana Cartel.
