Florida is a state in the United States that is known for its swamps and its beaches, the southernmost state on the US East Coast. Florida is an area with a high African-American (mainly Haitian) and Hispanic population (mainly Cuban) and has 19,300,000 people, the 4th most-populous US state. Florida had a 700-800 crime rate for violent crime out of 100,000, one of the largest in the country, behind South Carolina. Other states with the same crime rate included Nevada, New Mexico, and Maryland.
