Giacomo Michael "Jackie" Aprile, Sr. (April 11, 1954 - September 9, 1998) was an Italian-American mobster who was the boss of the DiMeo crime family from 1995 to 1998, when he died of stomach cancer.
Biography[]
Aprile was born to family Capo Paul Aprile and his wife Rachael Devino. He was brother to Richard Aprile, Elizabeth La Cerva (nee Aprile), and Maria Spatafore (nee Aprile). Aprile grew up in the Ironback ("Down Neck") neighborhood of Newark, New Jersey, with Silvio Dante, Tony Soprano, and Ralph Cifaretto, and were involved in a minor-league crew with them for the DiMeo crime family. They robbed Feech La Manna's card game and both Jackie and Tony were fast on the track to becoming made men in the family.
Aprile became a Capo and boss while Ercole DiMeo was imprisoned in mid 1995, with Tony Soprano as second-in-command. However, for most of his tenure as Don, he was in a hospital being treated for stomach cancer. He died in 1998 having made Tony boss.
