John Herbert "Jackie Fip" Ross (June 30, 1918 — October 3, 1997) was a Jewish mobster and a recognized contract killer for a great majority of Chicago's criminal syndicates. A native of Rush Street, Ross grew up in a poverty-stricken home and took up jobs from the various local gang bosses in the city. He thus eventually developed a reputation as a great robber and murderer, and was most notable for his participation in the Nuova Grazia organization of Gerlando Canterino in the 1970s.

John Herbert Ross was born at 126 Rush Street, Chicago, Illinois on June 30, 1918, the son of Polish Jew immigrants Michael Anthony Ross (born Moshe Rozenshtein
