Biography[]

Early Life[]

Pietro Abruzzi was born and raised in a small town in Southern Italy and a distant ancestor of Soprano Soldier Vito Spatafore. Abruzzi was a soldier in the Italian Army in World War I who fought in the Battles of Isonzo, and was shot in the eye on one occasion. The bullet was removed and he lost eyesight, and he was discharged from the army in 1917.

Arrival in USA[]

Instead of returning home, he decided to go on a boat to Brooklyn Harbor, New York City, and when he arrived, he worked as a petty thief. He worked with Philip Tattaglia in his small bootlegging operations in Little Italy and Brooklyn. Abruzzi made a living by acting as a hitman for the family, and suffered a scar on his face during some warfare with the rival gangs, and became a Caporegime as Tattaglia's right-hand man. Abruzzi was the Godfather of Bruno Tattaglia, the son of Don Tattaglia, and was close with him, and was also his advisor for the underworld life. He was a veteran of mob warfare in Little Italy and Brooklyn against the Corleone crime family

Five Families War[]

After 1945, he commanded his crew against the Corleone crime family in Brooklyn, fighting against Salvatore Tessio and his crew. Abruzzi's crew was made up of 15 mobsters, the best hitmen, and Abruzzi took part in the bombings of Corleone fronts alongside Tattaglia, also participating in drive-by shootings. Abruzzi was fiercely loyal to the Tattaglias, and one day in 1950, he proved this when he refused to talk at a meeting with Sonny Corleone at Stromboli Supplies

Death[]

After refusing to talk with Corleone, he was guided to a door on the third floor of the warehouse, where he was told to exit. When he opened the door, he was astonished not to see a balcony or a staircase. While gripping to the sides of the door, Abruzzi was kicked off by Sonny, and fell to his death. He was cremated at Tito Morelli's, and at this funeral, Bruno Tattaglia was thrown into a funeral pyre in the basement by Aldo Trapani, whose girlfriend Frances "Frankie" Malone was shot by Bruno a few days earlier.
