The Red Jacks (1970-2008) were an African-American street gang that were a set of the Southside Hoods gang, operating in New Jersey and The Bronx. The Red Jacks were rivals with their Purple Nines set after 2001 because the Red Jacks disapproved of the Nines' dealing of drugs, and they also became rivals with the Forelli crime family and Vailpando Cartel. The Jacks won the war against the Nines with aid from the Leone crime family and Yakuza.
History[]

Chandler George, D-Ice's brother
The Red Jacks were founded by D-Ice in 1970 in New Jersey's Cedar Grove neighborhood by African-American teenagers who sought to escape the poverty in their city. The Red Jacks became the main set of the Southside Hoods gang, alongside the Purple Nines gang, and the two took over The Bronx in 1998 from the Forelli crime family, with aid from another Cosa Nostra family, the Leone crime family.
In 2001 the two sets split after the Purple Nines began dealing SPANK, a new drug on the streets. D-Ice, the founder and leader of the Red Jacks set, attempted to stop the Purple Nines from their drug dealing in a gang war. The Red Jacks performed drive-bys, destroyed the Nines' Securicar armored vans with RC bombs, and defeated the Purple Nines in a rumble with baseball bats.
