Rocco Lampone was a Caporegime in the Corleone crime family.
Biography[]
Rocco Lampone was born in 1913 in into a the fathar was from benevento benevento province ltaly family. He enlisted in the US Army in 1941 with the outbreak of World War II, hoping to obtain health care or die trying, but instead gained military honor after a wound at the Battle of Kasserine Pass in Tunisia in 1942, suffering a shattered kneecap. He returned home with a Purple Heart and the rank of Major, and in 1945, was made an associate in the Corleone crime family under Peter Clemenza, who was pleased with his gun skills. He worked as a hitman in the Sollozzo Intrigue, assisting in the rescue of Tom Hagen from some associates of the Tattaglia crime family, making his bones, and also worked as a troubleshooter, working with the garment centre of the Black Market and also obtaining food stamps for the members of Clemenza's crew so that they could fight with full stomachs. Lampone became a Soldier in the family after the Paulie Gatto hit in 1946, and was later hired to lead a secret regime as a Capo, in case he needed key members of other families to be killer, or if there was an emergency. Lampone added Aldo Trapani to his crew, and assigned the hits on Luigi Fusco, Michael Costa, Nicholas Klaus and Giovanni Armanno, while he also ordered the beatdown on boxer Kelly Berry, who betrayed him in the gambling business.
In 1955, Lampone and Trapani carried out the hit on Philip Tattaglia at the St. Sebastian Hotel, gunning Tattaglia and all of his defending Soldati down. Trapani, as Underboss, made Lampone an official Capo in the family and Lampone was assigned to the Las Vegas crew. He failed to prevent an assassination attempt on Michael Corleone, and found the dead body of a hitman, so he could not force any one of them to tell him of their master. However, he was sent to kill Hyman Roth in January 1960 when Michael found out that Roth had caused wars with the Granados crime family, Mangano crime family, Almeida crime family, Tony Rosato's Gang, and Carmine Rosato's Family.
Death[]
Lampone was sent to assist Dominic Corleone in the hit contract for Roth at the Miami International Airport. Posing as a news reporter, he wounded Roth with a few shots, but was gunned down by airport security. Roth narrowly escaped to a gate, where Corleone shoved him out, breaking his back after falling several meters. His crew was absorbed into Dominic's Miami organization.
