Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero was a soldier in the DiMeo crime family who later became an FBI informant.
Biography[]
Bonpensiero was born in 1951 in Newark. He grew up in an Italian family in Newark with his brother Edward. He began his career as small time burger eventually getting more seriously involved in crime. In 1976 he married his wife, Angela and they had 3 children. Bompensiero became good friends with Johnny Soprano, eventually becoming friends with his son, Tony Soprano. Bonpensiero would help Tony rise to the rank of capo. He would continue to work and remain good friends with Soprano until his death.
Turning Informant[]
Bonpensiero, Unknown to his fellow mobsters was forced to turn into an FBI informant in order to avoid 30 years in jail for selling heroin. Soprano began to suspect Bompensiero after he began to act strange. The heat was taken of Bonpensiero after the death of James Altieri in 1999 and Bonpensiero was undetected.
Hit on Matthew Bevilaqua[]
In April of 2000 Bonpensiero and Tony Soprano murdered Matthew Bevilaqua in a snack shack for attempting to kill Christopher Moltisanti.
Death[]
Bonpensiero was found out in 2000, this was a hevy blow to the family. Shortly after this discovery a hit was put out on Bonpensiero. Bonpensiero was last seen being taken out on a boat with Soprano, Paulie Gualtieri, and Silvio Dante. Bonpensiero was shot multiple times in the torso by his friends who later dumped his body in the ocean.
