Three Capos

Philip Giaccone, Al Indelicato, and Dominick Trinchera

The Three Capos Murder was an event during the Dominic War of 1985 that ended the crisis, with the conspirators being gunned down at a nightclub in Clinton Hill on May 5 by members of the Rizzuto crime family, allied to the Massino crime family.

Background[]

The murder of the three Capos was orchestrated on the basis of treachery on the part of Philip Giaccone, Al Indelicato, and Dominick Trinchera, who wanted to gun down Philip Rastelli, the boss, so Joseph Massino used his favor with Vito Rizzuto, Underboss of the Rizzuto crime family, to arrange the hit. The three Capos were known to frequent a Clinton Hill nightclub, the 20/20 Night Club, so Rizzuto and a fellow Canadian mobster, armed to the teeth, entered the club.

Murders[]

The Three Capos were supposed to meet with Rastelli in a peace offering, but Gerlando Sciascia, walking arm and arm with Trinchera, punched the heavy mobster, who rushed at the gunmen but was shot in the chest by a shotgun and crumpled to the floor. Benjamin Ruggerio said that fifty pounds of his stomach just went flying, and Giaccone and Trinchera realized that their worst suspicions were correct. Trinchera's back was blasted open by a shotgun and Giaccone was shot several times with a pistol. The opposition was eliminated.

Aftermath[]

Massino was given two life sentences while Rizzuto was sentenced to ten years in federal prison.
