Lionele Tommasino

Don Lionele Tommasino

The Tommasino crime family were a Sicilian Mafia clan based in Corleone that also had territory in Bagheria. They were founded in 1923 after taking over control of Corleone from the aging Francesco Sciacca, and the Tommasinos allied with the Corleone crime family in New York, ever since Vito Corleone helped Lionele Tommasino kill Don Ciccio. The family ended in 1980 when Tommasino was killed and the last of his men flocked to the Corleone crime family in order to get revenge against the Tattaglia crime family

The Tommasino allies were the Corleones and their enemies were the Francesco Sciacca's clan and the Quintana crime family.

History[]

The Tommasino crime family was created by Lionele Tommasino, when, with the aid of New York gangster Vito Corleone, they killed Ciccio Sciacca and took over the city of Corleone, which became their territory. The Tommasino clan also took over Bagheria in the 1920s, and rivaled Guido Quintana of Montelepre's clan, and although Quintana took over Corleone in 1948, he was later killed by Salvatore Giuliano, a bandit who was loyal to the Corleones and Tommasinos.

The Tommasino clan welcomed Corleone Underboss Michael Corleone in 1946 when he needed to go into hiding because of his murder of Tattaglia crime family associate Virgil Sollozzo, and they sent their bodyguards Fabrizio Vincenzo and Calogero Cascio to guard him. The Tommasino Family protected him until he was able to return home in 1951 after the Five Families War was officially ended.

The Tommasinos also blessed Michael Corleone's vacations to Sicily with his wife Kay Adams and their children.

In the 1970s, the family was asked by the Corleones to protect Corleone while he was staying in Sicily to see his son Anthony's theatrical debut. The Tommasino clan were wrecked, however, when assassins Gaspare Mosca and Michele Spara assassinated Tommasino because he refused to let him drive to his home where Corleone was staying, and the family dissolved as the last survivor, Calò Cascio, joined the Corleones for revenge.
